Past Event Overview

The purpose of this 8th inter-institute workshop is two-fold: first, to celebrate the International Year of Light 2015, a resolution that was passed by UNESCO that promotes the central role of light in science and culture; and second, to bring together experts in the fields of science, research, and medicine to address the needs of optical imaging, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) will be participating in and supporting this workshop.

World-renowned researchers, scientists, engineers, and physicians, experts in their fields, will assemble to share the latest and cutting edge trends in the field of biophotonics. Emphasis will be placed on technologies that are light based and their impact on science, medicine, development of newer therapies and diagnostic tools and how this has an effect on an international level.
